Will You Be Wearing Cuffed Shorts This Spring?
by Najwa Moses at February 9, 2010, 4:00 PM
Cuffed shorts are making a big comeback this Spring, hence these Marc by Marc Jacobs normandy blue cotton ombré shorts, but I'll be the first one to tell you that these are not easy to rock. If you've got a not-so-boyish, boyish figure, these will work well; however, if you're seriously curvy in the thighs, hips and booty, I would shy away.

Spring 2010 Must Have: A Tulip Style Skirt
by Najwa Moses at February 9, 2010, 12:00 PM
Yup, a tulip skirt. You've seen them come in and out of fashion for several years and may not even have known that they were called a 'tulip skirt', but when you think about it, they resemble an upside down tulip flower. This Marc by Marc Jacobs brightest coral honeycomb jacquard button skirt is an easy-to-wear solution to this surfacing trend; feel free to pair it up with a denim jacket and canvas wedges.

Mindy's Wearing A Sequin Jacket 5 Ways
by Mindy at February 8, 2010, 12:56 PM
Sometimes it's hard working retail. Everyday I feel the need to put together an amazing outfit: one that hits on at least one important trend, but is interpreted my own way.
Usually, I enjoy rising to this daily challenge, but recently I've been feeling bored. I think it's 'cause I'm bored with my closet -- too much to choose from, yet nothing to wear... I didn't want to be negative or spend cash on additional clutter, so I came up with an idea to revitalize my inner fashionista and remind myself of what an amazing collection of pieces I've amassed.
So...I decided to pick one item from my closet and wear it for the entire week. It's not a new concept, but I wanted to make it personal and see if it was something an actual person, i.e., not an editor, could do and enjoy. Here goes...
Week 1: Sequin Jacket
One thing you should know about me - I LOVE anything sparkly, so the sparkly, sequin, 'nightclub-in-the daytime' trend has been a dream come true!
Here's how I wore my sequin jacket last week:
Monday:

I missed the weekend (Translation: I was not ready to go back to work), so I kept my look casual and playful. I paired my jacket with a cropped sweater, satin shorts by Johnson, opaque tights, studded Gucci booties, and a chunky necklace.
Tuesday:

Still didn't have much energy for anything super creative, so I went to my one of my fail-proofs - the all-black outfit. :-) The sequin jacket is worn with a Wyatt tie-dye boyfriend tunic, snakeskin leggings by Plan B, Dior tall boots, Kashmere leopard scarf, and long chain pendant necklace.
Wednesday:

Finally, some inspiration! I went for an 'editor-inspired' look and paired the jacket with a silk coral top, high waist skirt, satin opaque tights, YSL black patent sandals, and Isharya black horn pendant necklace.
Thursday:
Another thing I love are prints and especially animal prints - I decided to max out by putting a leopard print dress under the sequin jacket along with my black horn pendant necklace (which is also crystal embellished!). I completed the look with tights and YSL sandals.
Friday:
I wanted to end the week off strong, so I went a totally different direction with this bohemian-chic outfit. I also wanted to test denim on denim, which I think will be big this spring. The sequin jacket is paired with a denim zip top, AG jeans, gold Marc by Marc booties, necklace, and scarf.
I have to say that I really enjoyed my first week of 1x5 and am looking forward to next week's piece: Harem pants! I'm also taking requests for each week's pieces so if you have any, please leave a comment here.

'Little' Valentines Day Gift Ideas or Your Guy
by Najwa Moses at February 8, 2010, 12:00 PM
Ladies, be sure to spread the love with your special honey this Valentine's Day by getting him a small, but thoughtful gift. Think along the lines of a messenger bag, studded belt, designer wallet, toasty cable knit scarf, and, for the groomer, a Dobb kit.

Are You Planning On Wearing A Denim Jacket This Spring?
by Najwa Moses at February 5, 2010, 4:00 PM
It seems denim jackets have taken a back seat to toppers made of cotton, leather, tweed, wool, fur (both fur and faux) etc -- at least in New York -- and will continue to do so throughout Spring 2010. However, the denim jacket is a wardrobe staple for many us and almost feels like you must have an updated one every few years.

Project Runway Recap: Gotta Have Heart
by The Copy Shop at February 5, 2010, 3:31 PM

Aww... Last night's show had so much heart! In partnership with the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women campaign and AdDRESS Your Heart with Campbell's Soup, the designers were challenged to create a look for the real women. Each woman had been affected by heart disease in some way, so there were a lot of tears from pretty much every designer -- but, strangely enough, not Janeane who has been our resident weeper...

In addition to the heart and tears, there was also a whole lotta tacky on the runway. Michael, Nina, Heidi and even guest judge and Marchesa co-founder Georgina Chapman took turns ripping Jesus' look to shreds! "You basically took a checklist of everything that can turn tacky and turned it into that garment," Michael told him. Not surprisingly Jesus got the boot, but of course he was surprised when Heidi gave him the double kiss. Really Jesus? Really? Haven't we been in the bottom 3 in in the last 3 episodes?

What was surprising to me was how shocked the designers were that 'regular' women aren't models and harder to fit -- go figure!! I love that Anthony celebrated his full figure model. Anyhoo, what I wasn't surprised about was Amy's challenge win. She totally deserved it.

Whitney Port + Elle Mag + Red Lips = Pre-Fashion Week Party
by Nana at February 4, 2010, 11:54 PM
Let the pre-Fashion Week parties begin! Tonight, MTV's cameras trailed Whitney Port to Elle's shindig at the Guess? by Marciano store in SoHo. (Hope the cams didn't catch me waylaying the food servers to scarf down those yummy lobster-mango kebabs...) Eliza Dushku, Olivia Palermo, and Real Housewives of New York's Simon and Alex came out, as did the red lipstick, studded booties, fur, and funky tights.

Whitney + Elle Creative Director Joe Zee + a really big cocktail rock

Olivia Palermo came sans her hot boyfriend Johannes Huebl

Real Housewife of New York Alex McCord and her husband Simon were in the house

Between Whitney, this beauty, and countless others, it was all about scarlet lips.
Fun! Now I must floss the lobster out of my teeth & go to bed...
